This book is the travel log of capturing Hirondellea gigas. H. gigas is one of the creatures living in the deepest region of the ocean. It also lives in the Challenger Deep of the Mariana Trench, deepest point in the ocean. It is adapted to high-pressure, nutrient-poor environments. Its adaptation mechanism remains shrouded in mystery. People who love deep-sea creatures, including scientists, are interested in their ecology. However, there are many obstacles to approaching the Abyss, including the means and the cost. This book shows how to capture H. gigas without using submersible or scientific research vessel. Lots of photographs including H. gigas, deep-sea floor, and deep-sea fishes.
